From 1989 to 1995 studies of chemistry at the Universities of Innsbruck and Padova. In 1999 completion of the doctoral thesis at the University of Innsbruck under the supervision of Prof. Liedl. From 1999 to 2000 postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. McCammon at the University of California, San Diego, as Schrödinger-fellow of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). Subsequently until 2006 postdoctoral researcher with Prof. Klebe and assistant lecturer at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Marburg. In 2006 habilitation at the University of Marburg (topic: "Development and application of computational chemistry methods in drug design for the investigation of protein-ligand interactions"). Since December 2006 professor of pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of Würzburg.
