Tessa joined the group in February ´11. She studied biochemistry at the University of Leipzig and accomplished her PhD 2009 in the group of Heike Hall at ETH Zurich (Department of Materials). During her thesis she aimed to improve nerve regeneration in the peripheral nervous system by diverse in vitro approaches in order to direct cellular growth by modified nanofibers and covalently attached guidance cues in fibrin gels. She also gained interest in polymeric non-viral gene delivery systems, which might help to provide growth factors and/or guidance cues in (re)generative tissues.
With a specific interest in regenerative medicine Tessa`s present research focuses on novel engineered proteins with enhanced pharmakokinetc properties, biomaterial design for tissue engineering and analytical techniques for the evaluation of protein stability at the molecular level.
