Zweimal "best oral presentation"

17.06.2026

Damiano Arella and Silvia Mori (Arbeitskreis Prof. Decker) wurden in Krakau und Coimbra ausgezeichnet.

Damiano Arella is conducting research at the interface of Medicinal Chemistry, Photophysics and Pharmacology. In his photopharmacological project, that is funded by a common German-French (DFG/ANR) grant, he has spent several months in the Molecular Mechanisms in Neurodegenerative Diseases INSERM Laboratory of Dr. Tangui Maurice at the University of Montpellier.

He had been invited to the “6th Sigma Symposium / 2nd SIGMA-1 EUROPE Meeting” at the Collegium Novum, which is part of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow -  the second oldest University in Central Europe. The conference was about the pathophysiology of Sigma-1 receptor and was co-funded by the S1R-EUROPE COST action, in which several members of the Decker lab take part.
Damiano Arella has been awarded the 1st place for oral presentations, entitled: “Design, Synthesis, Photophysical, and Pharmacological Evaluation of Piperazine-based Photoswitchable Ligands Targeting the Chaperone Protein Sigma-1”.

Silvia Mori is a PhD student within the "TClock4AD" network and attended the Biophysics Festival at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, and was awarded "best oral presentation" for her talk entitled “Design and Synthesis of Photoswitchable Ligands for Modulation of Orexin Receptor Signaling".

Part of this work has just been accepted for publication:
