On the 6th of November, Yoshinori Kato and Yusuke Iwasaki from the Hoshi University visited our labs and gave a talk about the detection of oxidative stress using LC-MS/MS. We look forward to the next meet-up!

Congratulations to Debora and team! They published their sensors, differentiating tumor biopsies from healthy tissues - in less than 10 minutes. These sensors hold promise to substantially reduce surgery times, as the decision to continue tissue removal might be shifted into the operation theater!

On November 10, 2023, Dr. Niklas Hauptstein was awarded the VAA Foundation's Excellence Prize at the VAA Annual Conference in Mannheim. Dr. Hauptstein completed his doctorate under Prof. Lorenz Meinel at the University of Würzburg, Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, on the topic of "Site directed molecular design and performances of Interferon-α2a and Interleukin-4 bioconjugates with PEG alternative polymers". The prize is awarded for outstanding dissertations.

Simon Hanio & team detailed how bile transiently alters mucosal biomechanics and how it promotes transports through mucus. By combining readouts from NMR, Brillouin Microscopy, Differential dynamic microscopy, and others methods, they defined the critical role of bile in the mucus transport drugs that interact with bile. Congratulations on this interdisciplinary team effort!
