Simon Hanio & team detailed how bile transiently alters mucosal biomechanics and how it promotes transports through mucus. By combining readouts from NMR, Brillouin Microscopy, Differential dynamic microscopy, and others methods, they defined the critical role of bile in the mucus transport drugs that interact with bile. Congratulations on this interdisciplinary team effort!

Björn & team have published an article on the drug release of cytokines depending on the upregulation of Matrix Metalloproteinases in inflammation. Congratulations!

Matthias Ruopp developed the first transdermal therapeutic system (TTS) for therapeutic gases! His TTS generates the gas and releases it through a special membrane across the skin into the underlying tissues. A patent is pending, he published this contribution in the Journal of Controlled Release (JCR).

Congratulations to Lena Scheller & team. She developed a powder-form microemulsion adsorbed to a metalloorganic framework (MOF). Once the powder reaches the stomach, the MOF disintegrates, releasing the adsorbed molecules that readily form a microemulsion. The concept might be an interesting oral delivery form for poorly water-soluble drugs. A patent is pending, the article has been published in the European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics (EJPB).

On December 6th, Benedikt, Debora, Eduardo, Kristin, Rafael and Prisca each presented a poster on their research projects at the ChemSyStM 2022 in Würzburg.
